The Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett

Strong performances all round
— Judy Boyd, Bath Chronicle

Miss Shepherd and her van moved into Alan Bennett's North London garden for 3 months. She stopped for 15 years!

A true eccentric, Miss Shepherd's living arrangements and quaint habits provided Bennett with a wealth of material for his diaries and memoirs.

Now an award-winning play, "Lady in the Van is a wonderfully bitter-sweet comic diary of the years in which a lethally dotty and very smelly old bat parked her unroadworthy vehicle in Bennett's Camden garden, thereby providing him with a roughly equal amount of good journalistic copy and guilty landlordly irritation." (Sheridan Morley)
