A Visit From Miss Protheroe by Alan Bennett

poster.jpg

Mr. Dodsworth has recently retired from the company that he built up over 30 years. Sitting at home he is contemplating his life and achievements with quiet satisfaction when there is a sharp ring at the door: his former secretary has come to ruin it all!

A Visit from Miss Protheroe”is a delightful piece of theatre written with Alan Bennett’s usual blend of irony and compassion. Bennett’s observations on life, love and loneliness are funny, touching and true. Two of Next Stage’s leading actors Lesley Langley and Dave Dunn play Miss Protheroe and Mr. Dodsworth. Lesley was the lead in Next Stage’s production of Mother Courage a year ago and received a Best Actress nomination for her performance and Dave was a memorable Marquis de Sade in Next Stage’s powerful and critically acclaimed production of Marat/Sade last summer.

As well as experiencing a memorable night at the Theatre, audiences attending “A Visit from Miss Protheroe” will have the chance to be wined and dined in Bath’s first theatre/bistro. Tickets for the show include the cost of a 3-course meal (vegetarians and all dietary needs catered for) and audiences will be able to enjoy the performance whilst seated at bistro tables in convivial surroundings, enjoying good food and company.
