The Champion of Paribanou

By Alan Ayckbourn

Synopsis:

Come with us to a “land in a forgotten past or the undreamt future”. Meet the Sultan, Vizier, Princes and Princesses who inhabit this exotic world - not to mention a dysfunctional robot!

Be swept away by a tale of unrequited love and daring deeds - but don’t forget that this is Ayckbourn and the twenty first century so there are bound to be twists and a modern spin to this Arabian Nights’ tale.

The young people don’t want arranged marriages, they want to live their own lives and marry the partners of their dreams. Heroes and villains come in female form and stereotypical images are turned upside-down.

But in this world of magic carpets, mysterious potions, exotic palaces and mountain hideaways, one thing remains constant: human nature! Stung by jealousy, a rejected lover wreaks vengeance on her rival; can anything be done to stop her cruel revenge? Enter the Champion of Paribanou!
