Posted: Wednesday 11 October, 2017

2018 is set to be a fantastic year for Next Stage Theatre Company! The announcement of the 2018 programme came at the company’s latest social on Sunday 1st October - a chance for new and old members of the company to meet in a relaxed environment and discuss and read for the forthcoming productions. Many new members were welcomed, as well as members taking on new roles within the company.

The 2018 programme will kick off in January with Look Back In Anger by John Osbourne, directed by Next Stage’s artistic director Ann Ellison - rehearsals for which are already underway! Soon after, in the February half-term, Next Stage Youth will be reviving an ambitious production of His Dark Materials by Nicholas Wright, based on the novels by Philip Pullman, set to be a phenomenal showcase of the talents of the ‘youthers’.

Heading into to late Spring will be Charlotte Claydon’s production of Proof by David Auburn in April. This will be Charlotte Claydon’s directorial debut with the company, having previously worked as an assistant director, stage manager and tutor on various productions throughout 2017. Then in June, Ann Ellison will be bringing Tennessee Williams’ Night of The Iguana to the stage, with an impressive staging to match Williams’ impressive script. A predominantly female cast is currently being selected for this production.

In Autumn/ Winter, Bob Constantine will be directing Dangerous Corner by JB Priestly in early September - an established and brilliant actor within the company now taking to directing! To commemorate Armistice Day on 11th November, a special production of Private Peaceful by Simon Reade, adapted from the book by Michael Morpurgo, directed by Ann Ellison will be performed the week prior.

December’s production is still to be confirmed, but plans are already underway for 2019 - which will mark Next Stage Theatre’s 25th birthday. Watch this space for more information on the each production in what is set to be an exciting year for the company.
