Prime of Miss Jean Brodie sells out

Posted: Friday 06 November, 2009

Last week, Next Stage adult and youth members took to the stage for their production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. This iconic tale has been presented as a book and a film, but the intimacy of The Mission Theatre in its thrust layout allowed audiences to become completely involved with Sandy’s journey through the Marcia Blaine School for Girls, and her experiences with “Miss Jean Brodie – a Miss Jean Brodie in her prime”. There were stellar performances from all the cast, especially the two groups of Youth members who made up “The Brodie Set” and performed on alternate nights.
It was clear from early on that this was going to be a popular choice with Bath audiences, and by the beginning of the week every night had sold out. This was also the first adult production to include a Saturday matinee performance, an idea which has been praised by those who find travel around the city difficult late at night.
The Bath Chronicle reviewed the opening night and called the production “captivating” and “a great night’s entertainment” – read the whole review click here.

Next Stage is now preparing for its December production, An Inspector Calls by J.B.Priestley. This looks to be as popular as Brodie, with Wednesday and Thursday nights already almost sold out, so book early to avoid disappointment.
