Birdsong at the Minack Theatre July 2017

Posted: Sunday 10 September, 2017

Next Stage Theatre Company returned in July from a memorable tour to the Minack Theatre on the cliffs at Porthcurno following a successful tour to Cornwall with Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks adapted by Rachel Wagstaff.
17 actors drawn from the adult and youth sections of Next Stage Theatre Company, plus crew members and an enthusiastic front of house team enjoyed the same reaction to their production as they had experienced in Bath where Birdsong opened in The Mission Theatre on June 27th. Audiences were moved to tears by Faulks’ vivid account of wasted lives, needless destruction, firm friendships and passionate love all set against the back drop of World War One.
Despite some challenging weather - 40mph winds and torrential rain - the actors, under the directorship of Ann Ellison, managed to deliver a great show whether in hot sun, cold winds, or soaked to the skin!
A memorable week for all and Next Stage’s 10th appearance on this world-famous stage.
